Poverty is not confined to the lack of income and productive resources to secure sustainable livelihoods. Among its manifestations are hunger and malnutrition, limited access to education and other basic services, social discrimination and exclusion, and lack of participation in decision-making. Different groups of people are disproportionately burdened with poverty.
